Hey guys,
I thought of something that
might be a different angle. Make of it what you will.
Let us make the following assumptions: 1) We have a
broad (meaning multi-contextual) ability to induce emergence, and 2) we
have a reliable method for distinguishing non-living from living.
As we then approach various non-living, natural
systems (artifactual or not) and being desirous (final cause?) of establishing
life (manifesting organisms), we assess the system to gauge our chances
(conditional probability?) of being able to do so.
What, if anything, does this conditional
probability represent?
Just some thoughts.
