BioSystems - paper somewhat related to (M,R)-systems

In the June 2005
issue of BioSystems, there is a paper entitled "A hybrid systems framework for
cellular processes", by Cho, Johansson and Wolkenhauer. (see end of email) The
paper invokes Rosen's (M,R)-system in its discussions. However, the paper is
primarily about using "hybrid automata" for modeling of cellular
dynamics.
I have only had a
chance to skim the preprint of the paper, but it seems to me that the references
to the (M,R)-system fail to appreciate its meaning and its implications.
The paper seems to utilize Casti's interpretation of the (M,R)-system rather
than Rosen's original intentions. The formalisms are those used by Casti, not
those used by Rosen.
I may comment more
when I've had more time to read it in depth. But I wanted to toss it out
here to hear what others on the list think.
Regards,
Tim
P.S - There looks
to be a couple of other interesting papers in that issue, particularly the one
on "live memory".
