Re: simulation vs. mimesis

Hi, all

I am challenged to keep up with the energy, the pace,
and intellectual depth of this list. So just let me
have one more attempt to get into the "main" stream of
thoughts. My name is Jerry Zhu based in Virginia BTW.
Is this a reasonable greating to everyone?

To be extremely concise, mechanistic thinking
separates the observer from what is observed.
Experiences are objective and can be reported and
reproduced by different observers. Relational thinking
do not separate the two. Wave or particle are not
properties of light. They are properties of our
interactions with light. There are two sides of this
understanding: how we "feel" this interaction and what
we "believe" what the observables are or should be in
the process of interaction. Our focus shifts between
the two side of this interaction based on context.
Flight simulator has a focus on how we feel and how to
react the interaction while model plane has a focus
what the plane should be in the interaction. They are
both models based on where we place our focus.
"Entailment not bringing congruence" occus when we use
flight simulators to understand what an airpline
should be.

I agree with all of you regarding this issue, and
particuarly with Rosen Jr.'s comments about model
being contextual defined.

Jerry -

PS. Can't believe only a few hours left of the year.
So I am happy to get on the train before next year and
look forward to a great new year hours away for all of
us.
