Judith, and anybody else,
I asked in a post to Judith what I think is an important question for
clarity in this discussion. I realize it sounds like
cross-examination, and of course no one has to answer.
Here is the crucial question: Do you believe that living systems at
any level of complexity or organization can violate or evade physical
laws?

Howard,
I have not read all the posts in this discussion,
but jumping in anyway...
I would say no, but think we could consider the
possibility that living systems can determine,
create or alter physical laws. Or that the laws or
principles that explain life and those that explain
non-life are essentially equivalent in "stature" -
neither is more fundamental or general than the
other, sometimes one set may be more fundamental or
more explanatory, sometimes the other set is. So
life is not merely derived from or emergent from
physics, or vice versa.
