John M's right. I frequently use snippage to trim the contents of messages that include a long record of past correspondence. If there's a searchable threaded archive, carrying an entire thread forward in a single post doesn't make much sense, storage-wise.

I concur with the actions you've already taken, Tim, as described in your message below.

As a temporary measure, I have changed access to the Lsoft archives to 'Owner', so that only I can view them.  I'll probably just maintain them that way so that I can still utilize the archive space as short-term backup space.

 

I have deleted references to the Lsoft archives on my website, and I have added a pointer on the main listpage to the archives on my website. (That main listpage gets updated only once or twice a day, so it may not show up until tomorrow.)
