Tim,
I would suggest allowing 30 days for delayed response if you are
thinking of 3 months inactivity, and perhaps trigger it earlier if you want
the total to be under 4 months. This would allow for the possible case where
one goes on annual vacation after being very busy. My thought is if you are
already willing to tolerate 3 months inactivity, then time the
reminder/renewal message a little earlier before the deadline.
I recently
increased the inactivity timer to 6 months, rather than 3. I agree that the
response delay might be too short for some vacationers, so I have increased
it to 35 days.
