That does sound like it might be Rosenesque! I did a search on the author's
name and came up with many references, including this link on a workshop:

which includes a description of a paper he contributes about complexity
which "put into focus issues of multiple scales of observation and
non-equivalent descriptions, arguing that this was the starting point for
addressing the complexity problem."
Hmm, could be interesting! Are you going to order it?
