Judith,
Yes, I think it is because of the highly fortunate paratage. In my case
I had to struggle, very litterally, for nearly 30 years before it became
"obvious." For much of that time it scared me to think of believing such
heresy. But I still struggle. I think the constipation comes from
entering into a world that said the opposite, then choosing to study
that logic intensively as one's primary occupation, getting lots of
positive feedback for that and special priveleges in society, then
having some 'wise-guy relational freako' say its all wrong. I can see
both sides. So they shouldn't be made wrong, just special. And I believe
there will always be a side of science that cannot afford to think other
than mechanically. As an analogy, I would want the mechanist to do the
engineering on my house, but the relational thinker to do the design and
manage the project. The problem today is we have this reversed. The
mechanists are in charge and the systemicists are managed so they don't
become too threatening; except, perhaps, in times of systemic breakdown,
when they are dragged out from their cells and asked to reinvent
everything, like the auto industry, or great revolutions, or when
civilization itself collapses. So, let's get ready; an opportunity may
be comming.
