A website I was recently introduced to...

Hi Folks,

Does anyone on the list ever go to the website www.edge.com ? (I think
that's the address...) Anyway, it's something a friend told me about and I
recently went there and checked it out. It apparently has a big reputation
and gets a lot of coverage by the press as a sort of "think tank". Frankly,
I wasn't all that impressed with the genius of its contributors. I only
recognized Piet Hut's name as one of my father's friends. I haven't been
keeping up with the "cogniscienti" since my Dad died and he never had any
patience for groups like mensa, for example, who clothe themselves in their
intelligence as if it is something that needs to be worn on the outside.
Anyway, I would be interested in hearing what other list members think of
some of the things in that website. Some of the questions posed are truly
important questions for the world and for the future (or lack thereof) of
humanity.
